In the Diocese of Kalamazoo preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation takes place in both the 7th and 8th grade years. If your child is in the 7th grade, then, it is already time to begin working toward reception of the Sacrament. On the left of this web page you will find the forms needed to begin the process:

2. The Confirmation Sponsor Form
3. Confirmation Information Needed

These must be completed and submitted to the Director of Religious Education for all 8th grade children intending to be confirmed, and it is recommended that at least the Application and Confirmation Information Needed forms should be completed and submitted in during a child's 7th grade year. Thought should also be given to choosing a sponsor in the 7th grade year to avoid a last minute scramble and to allow more time for the sponsor and confirmand to interact. 

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION STUDENTS:

Candidates for Confirmation who are enrolled in the St. Augustine religious education program (CCD) will need to write reports on three saints of their choosing (one report for each saint) a report on their experience in works of charity and service, and a letter to the Bishop formally requesting to be confirmed.

Documents outlining the what should be included in the reports and the letter to the Bishop can be found to the left of this web page, as well as help finding resources for the saint reports.

All reports and the letter to the Bishop must be submitted to the DRE one month prior to the date of confirmation.

NOTE: If your child is enrolled in a Catholic School, the requirements above are completed as part of school curriculum.
